And it all had to be abandoned on Wednesday 14th April, after another op on Tuesday 13th, and with 2 more ops lined up. Maybe next year . . . .?

Europe in 2010
Perhaps I'll make it to Europe in May. There have been 2 emergency eye ops in the last 3 months, but I'm still researching and booking for a landing in Paris on 4th May. The anticipation is invigorating.
The plan is to fly over and back on the same flight as Bev's friend Helen Sykes, and to meet a couple of times during the month before returning on the 2nd of June.
I intend to tour some of the passes used by the Tour de France, in the Alps and the Pyrenees, see the Pont du Gard, the Millau Viaduct and ride in the Massif Centrale. I'll also be dipping into Italy to visit niece Charlotte in Pavia, south of Milan.
I will be carrying a few techy bits to ease my way. I've been learning to use a proper GPS, a Garmin Nuvi 765, and also making use of the larger screen-space of Google Earth and Google Maps. Not sure yet whether I'm taking the Asus T91 netbook or the iPod Touch for email and writing, but the netbook is much easier for those 2 tasks, though it's about 15 years since I've used a WinPC, and it confuses me at times. May get a new small phone with a decent battery life; already have a global-roaming SIM. Chargers, adaptors, camera card-readers - the cluttered life of the modern traveller. Maybe next time the iPad will condense much of this.
